Job Overview
Painter & Decorator (days) - Nevill Hall Hospital
We are looking for a fully skilled painter and decorator who can work to a high standard within a healthcare setting. This post is full time at 37.5 hours per week and is based at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny.
* There will be a requirement for flexible working times to suit the service.
* Requirements to work at various hospital/clinical properties throughout ABUHB.
* Candidates must be fully qualified - NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds Advanced craft - and have completed a time-served apprenticeship.
* A driving licence is desirable.
Main duties of the job
Daily tasks will include painting and decorating of walls, ceilings, skirting, architraves, and internal doors together with snagging works on completion with a high-quality finish to all kinds of decorative surfaces of the interior/exterior of the site properties.
To restore and renovate all types of surfaces before producing a high decorating standard. To maintain colour stain and refurbish all kinds of wood finishes within the site. To ensure quality finishes to all ceilings and walls. To work as a team member with other staff in the Works & Estate department on coordinated projects. To occasionally instruct and assist contractors after completing the appropriate paperwork. Respond to requests for work from various sources by phone/PDA or in writing with minimum supervision.
To carry out maintenance in highly specialised areas of the hospital, e.g., operating theatres, day surgery, accident and emergency mortuary, whilst maintaining the agreed levels of confidentiality and dignity. To respond to emergencies and job tasks on wards and departments via the help desk on a daily basis. To analyse, fault find, problem solve and provide written information and reports which will later be used as a database. To occasionally instruct and be responsible for maintenance assistants and apprentices.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
