Marisco Medical Practice is located in a small seaside town with a registered patient population of 14,500. Our weighted patient count is 21,500. Our surgeries are purpose-built clinical buildings with well-equipped consulting and treatment rooms.

We are looking for a part time salaried GP to join our team, who is enthusiastic and motivated in providing high quality clinical services to a varied demographic of patients. This post is based on a session basis, in accordance with a standard BMA contract.
Main duties of the job
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, thepost-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety ofduties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients, checking and signing repeatprescriptions, paperwork and participate in a duty doctor rota.
The candidate will make professional, autonomous decisions in relation topresenting problems. Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiatedand undiagnosed problems. Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all thenormal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working withinprimary care.
About us
Marisco Medical Practice is a busy surgery. The clinical team is led by by the senior GP and Clinical Lead. We have a large team of staff and each team is lead by a head of department.
We aim to provide primary care services that are responsive to the changing health needs of the community as informed by direct and indirect involvement with patient groups, individuals, other care giving organisations and stake holders.
At Marisco Medical Practice we believe there is room for all to grow and excel, we are highly involved in many teaching programmes across several universities. We have 2 GP tutors, 2 Nurse assessor/mentors within our surgery: which allows us to support a wide range of students.

Job responsibilities
Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner.
Reports to: The Partners (Clinically) - The Practice Manager (Administratively).
Hours: Hours Worked on a session's basis: i.e. 8 or 6 sessions a week.
Job summary:
The post-holder will manage a caseload and dealwith a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring thehighest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical responsibilities:
* In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, thepost-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety ofduties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations andqueries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeatprescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in atimely fashion
* Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation topresenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation
* Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiatedand undiagnosed problems
* Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs ofillness
* Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients andin line with current practice disease management protocols
* Providing counselling and health education
* Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload andreferring to other care providers as appropriate
* Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreedstandards
* Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeatprescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
* Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary(or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

Health & safety:
The post-holderwill implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management of theirown and others health and safety and infection control as defined in thepractice health & safety policy, the practice health & safety manual,and the practice infection control policy and published procedures. This willinclude (but will not be limited to):
* Using personal security systems within the workplace according topractice guidelines
* Awareness of national standards of infection control andcleanliness and regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, andgood practice guidelines

Qualifications
* Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
