Hft is a national charity dedicated to helping people with learning disabilities live the best life possible. As part of our mission, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Finance to join us on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This critical role will ensure the financial sustainability of Hft, contributing to our strategic turnaround and long-term success.
About the Role
The Head of Finance will report directly to the Chief Corporate Services Officer/Deputy CEO and lead the Finance, Management Accounts, and Procurement teams. This position combines strategic leadership with a hands-on approach to managing financial operations and delivering exceptional service to the organisation. Key responsibilities include:
1. Driving the development and implementation of Hft's Finance strategy to enhance profitability, liquidity, and sustainability.
2. Overseeing all aspects of financial operations, including cash flow forecasting, statutory accounts preparation, budgeting, and financial reporting.
3. Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, audit requirements, and risk management protocols.
4. Supporting strategic decision-making by providing insightful analysis and financial advice to the Executive Board and Senior Leadership Team.
5. Leading and developing a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
6. Managing relationships with external stakeholders, ensuring value for money and maximising income opportunities.
About You
We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate leader with a strong background in financial management and transformation. You will need:
1. A recognised accountancy qualification (preferably ACA or ACCA).
2. Proven senior financial leadership experience in a medium-sized organisation, ideally in the charity sector.
3. Experience leading teams through significant organisational change.
4. Strong technical expertise, including preparing annual accounts, managing transaction-intensive departments, and using integrated finance systems.
5. Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
6. A data-driven, innovative approach to problem-solving and strategic planning.
7. A commitment to Hft's mission and values, with a focus on delivering meaningful outcomes for the people we support.
