Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated technician to join our team at the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Hospital. We are looking to appoint a Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician to our existing team. You should be an Accredited Checking Technician or be willing to undertake this. The post holder will have experience in working as a Medicines optimisation Technician. You will be working alongside a friendly multidisciplinary team both on the wards and within the pharmacy department. You will be passionate about patient care and will be working in a patient-focused pharmacy service, working closely with the ward pharmacists and the Lead Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will provide a medicines management service to an allocated number of wards across the Trust. This will include providing a ward top-up service, checking of Patients' Own Drugs (PODs), undertaking medicines reconciliation, one-stop dispensing, and having an important role in discharge counselling.
The Role Will Involve
* Being the pharmacy technical link person between wards, Discharge Lounge, and Pharmacy.
* Being a key player in developing and extending the role of the Pharmacy Technicians within the Trust.
* Playing a key role in supporting the training of pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians/pharmacists under the direction of the Principal Pharmacist for Clinical Services.
Qualifications
* BTEC/NVQ3 in pharmacy services
* Registered Pharmacy Technician
* Accredited Checking Technician
* Accredited Medicines Management Technician Qualification
