As the Vessel Builder, you will use engineering principles and material science to create tanks that meet specific requirements whilst adhering to industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Have an understanding of engineering drawings, sketches, or specifications to determine the type, size, and shape of pressure vessels to be fabricated.
2. Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulations.
3. Use various tools and machines such as shears, presses, or welding equipment to shape and assemble parts of the pressure vessel.
4. Conduct regular inspections and testing on assembled vessels for leaks or defects, observing hydrostatic and dimensional tests, and conducting visual examinations.
5. Attach fittings, valves, or accessories as required by the specific design of the pressure vessel.
6. Document completed work and keep track of the materials used for inventory and ordering purposes.
7. Follow safety protocols and industry standards to ensure the structural integrity of the pressure vessels.
8. Test and refine components to ensure functionality and safety.
9. Perform repairs and upgrades to existing vessels, including identifying defects and determining the best methods for repairing them.
10. Maintain and clean machinery and tools used in the fabrication process.
Skills and Experience
1. Experience with pipework within hygienic and heavy gauge stainless steel.
2. Proven experience as a Pressure Vessel Fabricator or in a similar related field.
3. Knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.
4. Ability to read engineering drawings and engineering plans.
5. Full awareness of industry standards.
6. Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy equipment and work for extended periods.
7. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
8. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
9. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Specific Qualifications
1. Technical training in welding and fabrication.
2. Knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.
3. Experience with pipework within hygienic and heavy gauge stainless steel.
