As the Purchasing Manager, you will have overall responsibility for purchasing and buying goods for stock or resale for the organisation. Your key responsibilities will include:
Developing the organisation's purchasing strategy
Reviewing stock profiles and introducing new or improved methods of inventory control
Monitoring and forecasting inventory trends
Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments, and customers
Networking with the supply chain to maximise pricing strategies and agreements
Ensuring on-time delivery from suppliers and monitoring supply chain performance
Managing inventory, including storage, locations, transactions, and bills of materials
Implementing and maintaining a perpetual stock take programme
Completing transactions in accordance with procedures
Maintaining agreed inventory levels and recommending adjustmentsEssential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
To be successful in this role, you should have:
CIPS qualification or a demonstration of experience within the procurement field
Ideally, a background in engineering with a service and manufacturing profile
Ability to inspire confidence in customers and suppliers
Commercial ability to maximise financial returns
High level of competency in the use of IT systems
Understanding of stock management systems and financial controlsDesirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
In addition to the essential requirements, the following qualifications and experience would be beneficial:
Experience working in a similar purchasing role
Knowledge of engineering components and their supply chains
