Infrastructure and Support Team at Blue The Technology department at Blue is organised around four main functions, which collaborate closely and exist to service the rest of the business. Data - this team is responsible for managing SQL Databases, analysing, and optimising data, to support Blue’s applications and organisational decision-making. Change - this team focuses on enhancing systems, processes, and innovation through effective project management and change coordination. Development - this team develops and supports all the technology application solutions at Blue. Infrastructure and Support - this teams designs, supports and secures Blue’s IT infrastructure as well as providing technical endpoint support to the business. Overall purpose of the role This role involves developing software using C#, T-SQL, and web technologies, while working closely with product managers and business experts to gather requirements. You will troubleshoot production issues, maintain coding standards through code reviews, and contribute to finding optimal solutions to business challenges. Additionally, you'll identify opportunities to enhance business efficiency through the strategic use of software. Key responsibilities and accountabilities Develop software using C#, T-SQL, and web technologies such as HTML and CSS. Collaborate with product managers and business experts to gather and define requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues by implementing necessary fixes. Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of coding standards through code reviews. Assist in identifying and implementing optimal solutions to address business challenges. Recommend ways to leverage software to enhance overall business efficiency. Compliance and regulation Develop and maintain a full understanding of the Company’s compliance requirements (including the Financial Conduct Authority’s Conduct Rules) and act in accordance with the standards, instructions in, and the spirit of those requirements. Take responsibility for ensuring that personal data within your remit is handled lawfully, fairly, and in line with the company’s data protection policies and procedures. Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with data protection standards, guidelines, and principles, acting in a manner that upholds these requirements while supporting the DPO’s overall oversight responsibilities. For customer data, ensure it is processed securely and in accordance with data privacy obligations to protect the rights of individuals. For employee personal data, handle it with strict confidentiality and in compliance with employment and data protection legislation. Person specification Qualifications and Experience Essential: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or Qualified by Experience. At least 2 years of experience developing full-stack production software using C#, Java, or a similar language. Solid understanding of SQL. Proficient in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and others. Strong numerical skills with confidence in performing financial calculations. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with non-technical colleagues. Excellent problem-solving abilities. Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, Cyber Essentials). Experience in mentoring and coaching team members to develop technical skills and support career progression. Desirable: Knowledge with messaging and distributed systems. Experience working collaboratively with other developers on a shared codebase. Background in consumer finance (e.g., Hire Purchase, Personal Loans, Credit Cards). Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.FF Experience within a regulated industry, particularly the UK Motor Finance sector.
