Rate
£13.45 (this is £12.00 per hour plus holiday pay)
Hours
SECs work up to four hours per week during teaching time. Exact shifts will be organized based on your timetable and availability, but you will be expected to work all your shifts during teaching time. Time-off requests during teaching time will be considered on a case-by-case basis but will not generally be permitted in October. Hours are not guaranteed during vacation and revision/assessment periods.

Are you the sort of person who people come to for feedback or advice? The Careers Centre is looking for Student Employability Coaches, to provide peer support to fellow students on CVs and applications.
Student Employability Coaches (SECs) form a key part of the Careers Team. They provide one-to-one application and CV feedback to students coming into the Careers Centre, which operates on a drop-in basis. SECs will manage their own drop-in queue giving around 10-15 minutes of feedback to each student. They may also offer bookable callback appointments to students and graduates away from Bath via Microsoft Teams.
Full training and support will be given. You will have a dedicated line manager and regular meetings with other SECs to discuss best practices and share experiences.
Main duties and responsibilities
Advice
* Provide one-to-one CV, LinkedIn, or application advice and feedback for both employment and further study to students and graduates of any degree discipline and all academic stages.
* Act as a first point of contact for students coming into the Careers Centre, answering questions, and providing advice and resources.
* Refer students and graduates to our Careers Consultants, Information Officers, and other university services as appropriate.
* Undertake ongoing training and support in frontline/basic information and advice skills, and best practices in CVs, covering letters, and personal statements feedback, including related information resources.
* Attend regular SEC meetings/training.
Additional duties in support of Careers
* Provide feedback and ideas to Careers colleagues on new content, initiatives, and projects.
* Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the resources and services offered by Careers and liaise effectively with colleagues across Careers.
* There may be opportunities to be involved in content creation including written content, social media posts, and video resources.
* Supporting events and fairs where needed.
Person Specification
* Registered as a University of Bath student – undergraduate, taught masters, research postgraduate – with an expected graduation year of 2027 onwards.
* Must be available for training dates, start date, and all shifts in October as detailed above.
* An understanding of good practice for applications from using our Careers resources on MyFuture.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport.
* Excellent written English and oral communication skills.
* High level of attention to detail to spot errors.
* Highly customer-focused with a genuine interest in people and their development.
* Flexible and adaptable attitude with a proven record of reliability.
* Able to work well and communicate clearly in a team.
* Discreet, non-judgmental, tactful, and able to remain calm under pressure.
* Able to use office IT systems, databases, web/internet.
* Experience of giving one-to-one advice in a workplace or voluntary setting.
* Ability to motivate and build confidence in others.
* An understanding of good practice regarding creating an effective LinkedIn profile.
* Experience of producing content for a variety of communications channels, for example, websites, social media, or blogs/newsletters.
