About the Role Wokingham Borough Council’s Digital and Change team is seeking a talented Digital Content Designer to drive digital improvement and transform the customer journey across our digital estate. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to deliver the objectives of our Digital and Technology Strategy - ensuring that every digital touchpoint is engaging, accessible, and effective. What You'll Do Manage End-to-End Digital Content: Oversee the creation and delivery of high-quality, on-brand digital content—from initial briefs to final approval—ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Enhance User Journeys: Develop compelling content and intuitive user flows that improve website usability and accessibility across our digital channels, including our corporate website and community directory. Project and Campaign Delivery: Scope, plan, and execute digital projects and campaigns, sourcing rich media and crafting content that is accurate, timely, and aligned with our brand. Digital Quality Assurance: Act as the gatekeeper for online content, ensuring all digital outputs adhere to our guidelines on brand, accessibility, and usability. Content Management: Oversee website content, databases, forms, and self-service tools, maintaining consistency and quality across the board. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work in partnership with teams such as Customer Delivery, Communications, Engagement and Marketing to test digital services, gather user feedback, and drive continuous improvement. Training and Development: Onboard and support new editors, providing training on digital guidelines, SEO best practices, and effective content creation techniques. What You'll Need Essential: A degree-level education or equivalent experience. Expertise in wireframe design and creating visual mock-ups for user journeys. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and interpret data to inform decisions. Proven experience in identifying, developing, and delivering digital content projects that drive service improvement. Experience managing content management systems within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Desirable: Experience with HTML5 and mobile web design. Familiarity with coding languages (XHTML, JavaScript including jQuery, CSS2). Knowledge of GDPR, the Freedom of Information Act, and digital marketing best practices.
