Red Whale Dental Education Presenter (one day per week)
Calling all dentists…
* Do you love being a General Dental Practitioner (GDP), despite the challenges?
* Do you have a passion and a flair for training and education?
* Do you like to make complicated things easier, in both written and spoken form?
* Would you like to spend one day a week creating great CPD content for GDP colleagues?
If yes, we would like to hear from you
Red Whale is a market leading CPD provider for GPs and practice teams, touching the lives of thousands of colleagues every year with our CPD content. Since acquisition by the Medical Defence Union (MDU) and Dental Defence Union (DDU), we are extending our written and digital education content to empower and inspire GDPs and support DDU members.
What would you be doing?
Developing written and taught education content, focused on the needs of early career GDPs to build confidence as they become competent practitioners. You will be turning long guidelines and studies into short punchy summaries, filming content as Ted-talk style presentations in the green screen and delivering live digital events from the Red Whale sofa in our TV studio.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a GDP to join our team for 1 day per week to help create and present written and recorded digital content. All our presenters are practising UK clinicians, so you need to be working as a GDP with a minimum of 2 years generalist experience in the UK. You will be:
* able to synthesise guidelines and evidence into a simpler written form making them easy to get into practice.
* confident in preparing and presenting high quality, evidence informed teaching using PowerPoint.
* at ease with teaching in front of the camera and in person.
* comfortable forming connections with learners through sharing your own stories, experiences, and mistakes.
* an excellent communicator; high quality written and spoken English is an essential skill.
Key information of the role:
Reports to: Dental Education Lead & Clinical Director
Pay: £110,000-£130,000 Full Time Equivalent (range based on skills and experience this is equivalent to £22,000–£26,000 annual pro rata for 1 day per week).
Contract type: 1 day per week permanent contract. We are flexible as to working days, but a Tuesday or Wednesday would be ideal.
Location: Home based, flexible working with need to travel periodically to Reading, to film content and deliver live webinars (travel and accommodation paid as necessary).
Who are we looking for?
You will be a GDC registered general dental practitioner (GDP) with at least 2 years generalist experience, working in both NHS and private dental practice who is passionate about delivering the kind of education that jobbing GDPs would value and enjoy. Experience authoring and/or producing digital content will be a plus.
Roles and responsibilities:
Written content development
* Identify and document sources of evidence and guidance that should inform UK dental practice.
* Use these to develop/adapt referenced articles to support dental education – training and support will be offered.
* Offer editorial peer support to other dentist team members by reviewing and commenting on their written content.
Digital video content development
* Distil key concepts from the articles, identifying what GDPs really need and want to know and use this as a basis to prepare teaching.
* Produce PowerPoint presentations that support this teaching.
* Using the PowerPoint as a basis, bring this to life in video format using the Red Whale studio and technical team support to create ‘TV style’ education that engages the learners.
* Review and edit content as necessary.
Live digital event delivery
* Develop skills in live digital course delivery.
* Host and deliver live digital webinars and courses from the Red Whale studio in Reading.
* Manage Q&A from GDP and DCP learners.
Quality assurance
* Ensure that any education developed is compliant with GDC requirements, and that requisite process is followed.
* Work with Red Whale team to use existing governance structures to ensure content remains up to date and accurate.
* Respond to delegate feedback to improve and innovate content.
Team working and communication
* Collaborate with the wider Red Whale clinical team and commercial and operations teams to ensure successful product delivery.
* Be comfortable (or willing to learn!) in a remote first organisation.
The type of person this role will suit
* You will be organised and self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
* You will love to learn and share what you learn with others.
