An exciting opportunity have arisen for ambitious, experienced and talented Assistant Service Manager to join the Medicine Division within Mid and South Essex University Hospitals Group.
The Assistant Service Manager will be responsible for operational and planning issues and will work closely with the Service Unit Managers, General Manager, Deputy Director of Operations, Deputy Director of Nursing, Lead Clinicians and Matrons to identify and implement solutions.
This will be a demanding role with influence and impact across the site and will require good stakeholder engagement skills via clear communications and a visible approach.
You will need to be a supportive, empowering and engaging line manager able to lead with care to fully engage the team, praising when deserved, but also able to hold to account where appropriate. Although this will be a busy portfolio it will be a great opportunity to develop a broad spectrum of skills with the full support of an experienced, well-established leadership team.
As the Assistant Service Manager you will:
• Provide business planning support to the team.
• Provide high quality project, service, initiative and administrative support including information and analysis.
• Undertake reporting and analysis of complex information.
• Responsible for maintaining key performance standards such as 18 week RTT and cancer PTL's.
• Responsible for initiating and coordinating complaint responses.
• Support medical staffing rotas are running effectively
• Responsible for financial monitoring.
• Have specific responsibility for the service improvement Agenda undertaking capacity and demand analysis of services to support delivery of 18 week RTT waiting time standards.
• Development of Divisional teams, both clinical and non-clinical, who lead the patient journey improving processes and patient experience as required.

You will liaise with the medical staffing coordinators to ensure the rotas enable continuity of service; allowing the Division to maintain its activity levels, and ensure the associated income flows to the directorate and also maintain a quality safe service for the patients within the Trust.
You will act as business development support with regard to specific projects or initiatives within the specialty that support delivery of financial and/or operational standards.
