Job Description:
We are currently seeking a driven and dynamic Quantity Surveyor to join the team. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of projects across the retail and hospitality sectors, from inception to completion. The role offers the opportunity to work in a fluid and collaborative environment, ensuring that you gain exposure to the full project lifecycle rather than being restricted to a specific phase.
Key Responsibilities:
Take ownership of the financial and commercial aspects of projects from inception to completion.
Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring financial control and value for money.
Measure and value works in accordance with contract requirements and produce accurate cost reports.
Prepare tender documents and evaluate subcontractor quotations.
Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive prices.
Conduct site visits and liaise with project teams to ensure that projects are on track and within budget.
Manage change control processes and ensure that variations are appropriately documented and valued.
Provide assistance and guidance to junior members of the team, ensuring continuous development and knowledge sharing.
Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
Assist in the preparation of final accounts and ensure that all contractual obligations are fulfilled.
Who We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate will be either a graduate Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career or an intermediate-level Quantity Surveyor with a few years of experience under their belt. You should be able to demonstrate the following:
A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field (for graduates).
Ideally minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the construction industry (for intermediate QS).
Experience or a keen interest in the retail and leisure sectors.
A strong understanding of construction contracts, cost planning, and tendering processes.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
A proactive and flexible approach to work with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
An ambition to learn and develop your skills with a strong desire to progress within the company.
