Job Description
This role will report to the UK Business Development Director, and will run the UK Tender Unit providing key support to the UK business across Transportation, Energy and Sustainable Cities and Consulting & Operations as well as co-ordinating the activity of the 6 other European tender units (reporting to Europe Chief Commercial Officer for this aspect of the role). This role will also provide wider support to the commercial activities of the UK Business Development Director.
Working with subject matter experts in the UK (and globally), the candidate will be able to manage and lead commercially-attractive technical bids and proposals across a wide breadth of disciplines, from transportation to nuclear.
The role will involve excellent exposure to the wider Egis Group, our UK businesses and cross-functional teams and requires the personal credibility to develop successful professional relationships with internal peers and external partners. The right candidate will be a self-starter, and willing to be agile and adaptable to a fast-paced business environment.
The individual appointed will need to have a high degree of self-motivation and be confident in managing teams whilst meeting stakeholder expectations. Main responsibilities include:
Tender Strategy Development
* Develop and implement comprehensive tender strategies to secure new business opportunities.
* Align tendering activities with the company’s growth objectives and strategic goals.
Tender Management & Coordination
* Management and ownership of the Egis Contract Acquisition P1 process and associated deliverables
* Oversee the preparation, submission, and negotiation of tenders for engineering projects.
* Manage timelines, deliverables, and resources throughout the tendering process.
* Ensure compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
Team Leadership & Development
* Lead the bid co-ordination and development team.
* Assign responsibilities, provide guidance, and ensure efficient team performance.
* Conduct training to enhance team skills in bid writing, technical documentation and bid support.
* Implementing and tracking tendering KPIs
* Co-ordinate and communicate with the other European tender units
Stakeholder Engagement, and Wider Commercial Support
* Collaborate with internal teams (technical teams, finance, legal, etc.) to gather technical and commercial inputs.
* Engage with clients, partners, and subcontractors to build strong relationships and clarify bid requirements.
* Management of the CRM process and associated sales pipeline KPI reporting
* Support and co-ordinate UK sales engagement activity
* Support the UK Business Development Director in wider commercial activities, including reporting, preparation of presentations, and data analysis.
Risk Analysis
* Identify project risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
* Ensure all tender documents are accurate, comprehensive, and aligned with client expectations.
* Maintain a database of past tenders, client feedback, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Compliance & Legal Considerations
* Manage UK compliance with the Egis Contract Acquisition P1 process, including attendance at – and presentation to – the Egis risk committee as appropriate.
* Ensure all tenders adhere to legal, regulatory, and company compliance and ethical standards.
* Manage contract terms, conditions, and commercial risk assessments.

* Technical understanding of engineering processes and project delivery.
* Proficient in tender management software and tools.
* Collaboration & teamwork: Experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
* Commercial & industry awareness: Understanding of procurement processes, contract requirements, and business development strategies.
* Technical proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), bid management tools, and content management systems.
* Ability to leverage AI tools to increase the efficiency of the bid process
Educational Background & Experience:
* Degree-level education ideal but not essential
* Proven track record of securing major contracts and delivering successful tenders across sectors.
* Extensive experience of presenting sales information to Senior stakeholders
* Proven record in successfully discharging corporate governance across the contract acquisition process.
* Extensive experience (15+ yrs) in tendering, bids, proposals within the engineering/construction industry.
* Experience in using MS Dynamics CRM and Oracle ERP software
Location:
* London – hybrid working, with 3 days per week in the office on average
* Ad-hoc travel to other Egis offices to meet key stakeholders
