We are currently recruiting for a deputy Engagement and Events Coordinator to join our Lincolnshire Serving Community Team.

What is an Event and Fundraising Coordinator?
Event and Fundraising Coordinators play a key role within the team. You would help with the development and delivery of a local fundraising and attend events and fundraising activities. Depending on the size of the Serving Community Team of volunteers, you may also have Fundraising Volunteers to help at events. You would help to raise awareness of SSAFA through the activities that you coordinate through marketing materials and social media.
What difference will you make?
Armed Forces life can bring its challenges when a loved-one is deployed overseas, or a family must move to a new location. Some people can find themselves facing illness, bereavement or unexpected financial problems and need a little help. That’s where you come in, could you spare regular time to promote SSAFA’s work, raising awareness and vital funds?
What would you be doing?
1. Working closely with the Chair and other volunteers to establish an annual plan of activities, coming up with creative ideas to raise funds and awareness.
2. Hosting and attending events.
3. Keeping in touch with any Fundraising Volunteers, understanding their availability, skills and strengths.
4. Using SSAFA’s online Marketing Hub as a resource for all SSAFA branded publicity resources, maintaining a stock locally.
5. Promoting the work SSAFA and the SCT does, sharing case studies and good news stories, with SSAFA’s PR and social media teams and with the Serving Community Support Team.
6. Being an ambassador for SSAFA, building positive relationships with all stakeholders.
7. Understanding the work of the Community Connection Champions who run groups to support those feeling lonely and isolated; sharing your knowledge with them.
This is a flexible role, some of the work can be completed remotely but a majority would be in the community hosting events and engaging with people. You would need to attend several volunteer team meetings each year which may be a combination of in-person and virtual.
What about training and support?
1. As part of your induction, you would complete a range of eLearning courses to prepare you for the role. You would then have ongoing access to a range of eLearning courses to keep your knowledge and skills up to date.
2. Volunteers are provided with support from SSAFA’s employee teams including Serving Community Support Team and Volunteer Experience Team.
3. SSAFA’s Safeguarding Team are available to provide advice and guidance with any safeguarding concerns.
4. SSAFA will provide opportunities to attend meetings and events to share good practice and learn from other volunteers.
5. Any out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed, and all volunteers will be covered by SSAFA's Public Liability insurance while carrying out their role.

What are we looking for?
1. Friendly and approachable people with effective communication skills, including written and spoken English.
2. Excellent understanding of the importance of boundaries and confidentiality.
3. Experience of organising and running groups, activities, or events.
4. Ability to travel to venues.
5. Basic IT skills to be able to use email and access eLearning courses.
6. Non-judgemental approach and alignment with SSAFA’s values and BRAVE standards.
7. A willingness to adhere to all relevant organisational policies and procedures.
