Job summary The post holder will actively support the theatre practitioners and multi-disciplinary staff within the theatre environment throughout the peri operative phase. To provide effective patient centred care implementing care that meet the needs of the patients and their families/carers in conjunction with the qualified theatre practitioner. To support staff in Clinical procedures, protocols and guidelines to ensure the effective delivery of service to patients in the peri-operative phase. Main duties of the job Ensure clinical practice complies with the Trust Policies and Procedures. To participate in the preparation of theatre prior to the list, ensuring all equipment is clean and available for use. To assist in the safe positioning of patients in theatre, as per the trust policy. To support the scrub/ Anaesthetic team during procedures, anticipating their requirements. To assist the scrub practitioner to prepare for the cases To participate in swab and instrument checks. To safely dispose of clinical waste and sharps as per trust policy. To handle and prepare specimens, ensuring correct labelling and packaging for transportation to the laboratory. To assist in the documentation of patients records both written and electronic in accordance with the trust policy. Teach circulating duties to all new grades of staff To answer bleeps and phones and relay messages To clean and check patients trolleys daily.
