The Calman Trust charity operates Café Artysans in Inverness city centre.Any funds generated by this social enterprise are used towards our work with young people.
Café Artysans is a busy commercial food business, delivering a professional service that compares with mainstream outlets across the city.In addition to the 52-cover sit-in offer, the business comprises a busy catering and events service, takeaway service which is point of sale for an extended product range, and delivery of the catering service at the nearby Inverness Justice Centre.There is a loyal well established customer base for the whole Artysans offer, with visitors swelling the ranks through the year.
Currently we trade in two separate lines of business, our Café Artysans operation and the HasAnswers app and underlying platform.The latter extends the organisations charitable reach and impact through digital technology.
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for generating Café Artysas sales and new business and will report directly to the Calman Trust Chief Executive. Ideally, they will also lead on sales of the HasAnswers app and underlying platform. They will collaborate with the organisation's service manager to ensure delivery of sales needs.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1.Drive sales within existing business activities at Café Artysans including outside catering and events. Work with the existing catering team to pro-actively achieve profitability targets and ensure a high standard of service or product delivery.
2.Maintain and develop current and future customer relationships whilst identifying options for service development and new market opportunities.
3.Pro-actively engage with the Highland business community, as well as non-business clients, to drive sales across all new and existing markets.
4.Responsibility for the profit and loss account of Calman Enterprise activity alongside delivery and monitoring of agreed sales forecasts.
5.Undertake options appraisals on potential new trading markets, and design and implement a business development and sales strategy, including written business cases for investment or strategy decisions to the Chief Executive and Calman Enterprise board.
6.Oversee the sales of the organisations HasAnswers digital platform and services.
7.Issue proposals and quotations for work and ensure suitable follow up. Identify opportunities to bid for tendered contracts via Public Contracts Scotland or similar to win new business. Work with the Chief Executive and respective boards to submit tender proposals and deliver tender presentations.
8.Manage and record sales enquiries received directly or via other Calman staff and pro-actively engage with clients to provide proposals aligned to their requirements.
9.Utilise the organisations USP in relation to the work it undertakes with young people and identify ongoing opportunities to work with organisations in order for them to achieve their fair work and corporate social responsibility targets.
10.Create operational opportunities for young people to progress within the organisation and diversity skillsets through new business opportunities.
11.Attend relevant workshops, business and community events, open days and forums in order to promote the work of the organisation and the Enterprise services on offer.
12.Report on activity, performance, proposals and feedback to the Chief Executive and provide routine activity updates to the Calman Enterprise board, attending evening board meetings where requested.Ensure deadlines are met for all activity.
13.Collaborate with colleagues over promotional and marketing activity and in identifying opportunities for cost effective marketing strategies.
14.In liaison with existing colleagues, routinely review the Enterprise service offer and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and ongoing increased profitability, including new products, pricing, innovations, branding and designs.
Qualifications
Good standard of formal education.
Evidence of commitment to continuous professional training and development.
Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Terms:
Initial one-year contract, with aspiration to extend and expand the role, subject to performance.
Salary £37,500 plus performance related bonus (at discretion of Calman Trust)
