Description An opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety & Facilities Operative to be based at our Distribution Centre in Corby. Duties and responsibilities: • Reporting to the Safety & Facilities Manager • Responsible for Internal Warehouse and yard Hygiene, keeping up to date hygiene schedules to comply with site accreditations. • Assist with Office and toilet hygiene during holiday and absence of site Office Hygienist, including a quarterly ‘deep clean.’ • Become an initiative-taking member of the SHEQ Team working with the site Safety Manager to drive and maintain site safety standards. • To attend training courses when required. • Basic ‘Handyman’ skills for minor painting and decorating tasks, basic plumbing and minor building repairs and non-vehicular defects • Build knowledge of MHE fleet and be involved in consulting with MHE engineers during service and repair visits. • Prepared to be trained to drive appropriate MHE equipment, floor sweepers and counterbalance FLT. • Managing stock levels of maintenance and cleaning equipment required for the role and ensuring Operational ‘shadow boards’ are fully stocked. • Become a site safety representative and proactively always promote the highest standard of H&S practices. • Weekly testing of site fire systems, fire pumps and backup generator • Any other duties considered necessary to fulfil the role. Experience, skills, attributes, and the person: • Relevant experience gained in a logistics or food industry environment. • Diligence and able to manage given schedules accurately. • Basic DIY Skills, with a proven ability to perform minor repairs and painting /decorating tasks – part qualified would be advantageous but not essential. • Can work with minimal supervision, initiative-taking and able to communicate with all levels within the business unit. • Basic PC skills for management of Non-vehicular defects The above position will include a flexible approach to work hours.
