Job Overview – Senior Billing Accountant (Hybrid):
Step into a key financial role with our client as a Senior Billing Accountant in Boston, MA. This hybrid position offers an opportunity to oversee sponsored research billing, ensure compliance with federal and sponsor regulations, and drive process improvements in financial reporting. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, manage complex invoicing, and contribute to financial audits, playing a vital role in the organization’s financial operations.
Compensation: $105,000 – $120,000/year
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Senior Billing Accountant:
1. Sponsored Research Billing: Manage invoicing, reconciliation, and setup of sponsored research awards per funding agreements.
2. Invoice Preparation & Compliance: Generate interim and final invoices, ensuring sponsor compliance and accurate reporting.
3. Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to billing procedures for greater efficiency and accuracy.
4. Accounts Receivable Management: Oversee receivables, apply payments, and escalate outstanding collections as needed.
5. Federal Reporting & Compliance: Ensure adherence to Uniform Guidance and GAAP in federal financial reporting.
6. Month-End Close & Audits: Support reconciliations, journal entries, and audits for grants and contracts.
Qualifications for the Senior Billing Accountant:
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
2. Experience: Minimum 5 years of billing and invoicing experience, preferably in a nonprofit or sponsored research organization.
3. Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Federal Sponsored Research, Uniform Guidance, GAAP, and internal controls.
4. Technical Proficiency: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; experience with Google Apps and ERP software (Oracle Cloud preferred).
5. Skills & Attributes: Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and effective collaboration in fast-paced environments.
