We are seeking a patient and adaptable Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in a local primary school. While prior experience in a school setting is not required, experience with ALN—either professionally or personally—is essential.
The role is within a mainstream primary school following the standard Welsh Curriculum. Support hours will vary depending on each pupil’s individual needs, with assistance primarily focused on subjects they find most challenging.
Flexibility is key, as you will need to work around the pupil’s schedule and adapt to a fast-paced environment. Understanding triggers and effective strategies to support pupils in class is crucial.
Consistency is essential for the well-being and progress of the pupils. Therefore, we are looking for candidates who can commit long-term, helping to build familiarity and routine for the students.
Responsibilities:
* Ensuring pupils are engaged and comfortable during lessons.
* Assisting with personal care tasks if needed (e.g., toileting and feeding).
* Implementing appropriate strategies to manage challenging behavior.
* Participating in relevant training and courses as required.
Requirements:
* Enhanced DBS (We can assist with this process).
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) (Support available for registration).
* Relevant experience in the ALN sector, either professionally or personally.
