The design and installation of a heat network in a rural community in Cambridgeshire to replace oil boilers in 300 homes with centralised low carbon heat generation. Developing detailed long-term decarbonisation plans for existing large scale district heating networks to allow them to transition from gas fired CHP led generation to low carbon generation. We are looking for someone who is very data driven, having a keen eye for the finer details, who can analyse operational data effectively and accurately. This position is for an ambitious individual, the successful candidate will need to be comfortable communicating at all levels within the business, working collaboratively and co-operatively across departments, playing an integral part in executing O&M operations efficiently. The Operations Finance Controller will have two elements to the role, both requiring someone who is organised and has an attention to detail. As a team, we are now gathering valuable data, primarily through our Dynamics 365 system which we want to take advantage of and analyse to make data driven decisions to continually improve how we operate and maintain our heat networks. This may be for example, simple initiatives such as HIU models which are unreliable and the highest rate of failing parts, or the most common reasons for attending commercial plant for heat interruptions, whether they be bugs in the control system or plant shutdowns due to fire alarms. We can then prioritise our business decisions to improve reliable heat supply to the residents and businesses we serve. We are constantly driving to operate safer, more reliable, and more efficient heat networks. To deliver the improvements required to achieve this we deliver a variety of corrective works, ranging from £100’s to £10,000’s. The Finance Operations Controller will be responsible to track the delivery of these works and work closely with the finance team to make sure the works are billed appropriately to the various clients, accurately and on time Candidate The core attributes we are looking for are being organised, with an attention to detail and able to work with the maintenance coordinators, scheduling and preparing the corrective works as well as the finance team and wider company. They need to be self-motivated, hard-working, and able to use their own initiative both on their own and as part of a team. Excellent computer skills are required, using the full Microsoft 365 package, MS Excel, Word, and Project is essential. Key responsibilities: Financial/Operational/Contractual Reporting Solely responsible chargeable works operations to deliver results and ensure works are accurately invoiced, from quotation to completion using Dynamics 365. Provide data and analysis to assist with the tracking of departmental KPIs. Responsible for External client reporting, working closely with our internal Contract Management team. Provide in depth analysis and reporting to assist Operations management with departmental budgeting, forecasting and financial performance. Operational Data Analysis Supporting the Operations leadership team to understand performance, optimise efficiency and compliance related operational decisions. Working closely with the Operations managers to monitor and report on ongoing planned/corrective and reactive maintenance activities. Auditing operational data within our Dynamics 365 system for correctness, completeness and introduce process discipline as needed. Drive change, as needed, to ensure compliance, reviewing and delivering recommendations for continuous improvement both within our CMMS system, but also operational processes. The implementation and delivery of efficiency dashboards in Power BI to show live and accurate information which is used business wide. Experience Educated to degree level in either Business Management, Accounting, Finance or Data Analytics. Demonstrable experience in similar operational data analysis role Strong to advanced analytical skills with Microsoft Excel / Power BI / SharePoint etc. Advanced IT literacy skills, ideally with solid experience with CMMS/CAFM. Must be able to find advice and solutions for operational queries and provide reliable information. Must possess strong organisation skills and an eye for detail. Must possess strong interpersonal skills. Good verbal and written communications skills in English are essential. Keen sense of ownership, urgency, and work ethic. Ability to learn and work in multiple systems simultaneously. Must possess integrity and trustworthiness towards the company. Genuine interest in the industry and eagerness to contribute to a developing department. Remuneration and Info Remuneration: Base £35,000 - £37,500 (depending on experience).
