Manager, Operations - Machine Shop
Work Schedule:
Onsite – Wolverhampton, GBR
To provide manufacturing leadership excellence, supporting the Wolverhampton business producing components for the aviation industry. Leadership of the shop team leaders and their teams of setter operators. Manage the manufacture of Aerospace high quality machined parts or assemblies, to schedule, at an appropriate cost and to quality standards.
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible and accountable for the on-time delivery, acceptable quality, minimum cost, of components or assemblies.
In order to achieve the planned output, the Manufacturing Manager must work closely with relevant internal departments such as maintenance, manufacturing engineering, product engineering, material control and supply chain.
The Manufacturing Manager must work with the quality audit and inspection departments to assure continued compliance to the quality standards.
The successful candidate must be technically competent related to the equipment and procedures used in the machine shop. Along with the technical competence, the successful candidate must possess excellent leadership skills.

Responsible for:
* Provide direction and technical expertise with manufacturing techniques
* Making decisions and solve technical problems to provide an efficient solution to production constraints
* Identifying resource and equipment requirements
* Ability to manage change and effectively pass on the information down the line to concerned teams for smoother execution
* Resource management skills and ability to handle complex / sensitive issues
* Encouraging team interaction, boost employee motivation and appreciate team contribution
* Takes ownership and responsibility for the current working environment in line with EH&S policy and procedures
* Ensure standard operating procedures and project guidelines are in place
* Task allocation and performance evaluation of team members utilising system tools
* Project scheduling and resource management
* Understanding of technical equipment within a manufacturing environment.
* Ensuring compliance quality procedures as dictated by NADCAP for manufacturing requirements
* Must ensure teams follow the correct procedures, policies and documentation requirements across project phases
* Able to guide the team through the development, testing and implementation stages and review the completed work effectively
* Planning, budgeting and reporting on projects
* Develop presentations on project status, present monthly findings on lean improvement reviews
* Will conduct regular team meetings and track their performance / progress
* Ability to interview candidates and hire resources
* Conduct performance reviews of team members and identify areas of improvement, give feedback via the appraisal process
The Individual:
* Extensive manufacturing leadership experience within Aerospace, Automotive or similar industry
* Ability to communicate effectively with teams and customers (internal / external)
* Good knowledge of various materials used within the aerospace industry
* Understand project requirements, coordinate with resources, and direct the projects in the right direction in a timely manner
* Lead Continuous Improvement / change management within their area
* Ensure all colleagues are focused on customer and leadership objectives to support the business X Matrix goals
* The ability to understand detailed process control instructions in accordance with all relevant internal company procedures.
* Delegate and allocate responsibilities efficiently to manage projects end to end
* Effectively lead teams and inspire others to achieve goals through innovation, quality and excellence
* Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses of team members and suitably make changes if required
* Ability to match project tasks with opportunities for development so that employee potential is utilised to the maximum
* The ability to work methodically and efficiently.
* Manufacturing techniques essential
* Experience of NADCAP procedures is desirable
* Aerospace industry experience is advantageous
* Provide an efficient working atmosphere to project teams and ensure objectives are met within stipulated time
* IT skills advantageous for data analysis
* Educated to degree level
