Contract Type: Freelance - 12 Months
Rates - Inside IR35 - £420 - £450 per day
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Section Engineer to join our team on the HS2 M42-M6 Motorway Link Viaducts (East) project in Water Orton. This is a key role within the construction team, responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of critical structural works, including viaducts, bridges, and associated infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the engineering control, setting out, and quality assurance for key elements of the viaducts.
Ensure that works are delivered in accordance with design specifications, method statements, and safety regulations.
Coordinate site activities, liaising with site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.
Monitor progress against the construction programme and proactively address any engineering challenges.
Carry out inspections and testing, ensuring compliance with HS2 technical standards and project specifications.
Support the Site Engineers and Project Manager in maintaining accurate records, reports, and risk assessments.
Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental best practices on-site.
Work closely with the commercial team to manage materials, costs, and subcontractor performance.
Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in engineering processes.
Requirements
Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in heavy civil engineering and structures, particularly on large infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of bridge, viaduct, and concrete structures.
Proficiency in engineering surveying, setting out, and CAD software.
CSCS Card (Essential).
SMSTS or SSSTS certification (Preferred).
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication and leadership skills to coordinate teams effectively.
