Are you a UK registered (GPhC) Pharmacy Technician with experience of hospital pharmacy looking for a chance to develop skills in the area of clinical trials and research? If so, we have an opportunity of a one-year fixed term, part time role in this area that would give you that chance!
We have extensive experience of running commercial and academic clinical trials and research projects, with a dedicated Research and Innovation team with affiliation to Keele University. For this role it is desirable that you have experience of clinical trials and have current GCP certification, but not essential, as we are able to support your training needs in this area.
The job base is at St George's Hospital in Stafford in the West Midlands but will support the Research and Clinical Trials activity at Cheadle Hospital near Stoke-on-Trent and Shropshire Community Health Trust via activity at Redwoods Centre pharmacy in Shrewsbury.

Main duties of the job
Clinical Trials: Co-ordinate, supervise and maintain Pharmacy Clinical Trials service in accordance with ICH GCP guidelines and Pharmacy procedures, review research protocols on behalf of R&I, attend set up meetings, responsible for preparing, maintaining and dispensing clinical trials in accordance with GCP, Ensuring all clinical trial procedures are in place prior to recruitment of first patient, Develop links with Trusts R&I and Pharmacy Teams, Responsible for the accountability of all IMPs, Provide and co-ordinate training of Pharmacists and Pharmacy technicians with regard to clinical trial set-up, day to day queries and dispensing/checking of Clinical trials competencies, Responsible for maintenance of Pharmacy Clinical Trial files, computer and written records.
Carry out a comprehensive medicines management service, interpret and dispense medicines for inpatients, discharge and outpatient prescriptions, accurately supply and dispense controlled drugs in accordance with departmental procedures, hold an ACT qualification, Performs final accuracy check on dispensed items.

Job description
Job responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the operational management and organisation of the pharmacy clinical trials service within the hospital site(s) involved. Ensuring compliance with ICH-GCP guidelines, clinical trials regulations, the research governance frameworks, relevant guidelines and policies and internal SOPs. They will also be responsible for developing and reviewing these SOPs.
They will be responsible for pharmacy clinical trial set-up and maintenance activities as well as dispensing investigational medicinal products (IMPs).
The post holder will support the Research and Clinical Trials activity at Cheadle, Stafford and Shropshire (Shropshire Community Health Trust) SCHT via activity at Redwoods pharmacy.
The post holder will also be required to provide oversight of training and education of Pharmacy staff.
To perform the role of an experienced, registered, Pharmacy Technician to include the provision of advice, supervision, training and mentoring of staff members under their supervision and as part of the trust pharmacy training programme of Clinical Trials.
The post holder will be required to provide assurance that regulatory and professional standards are adhered to.
