Teaching Assistant - Visual Impairment Support (Full-Time)
Location: Newport
Salary: £12.90 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday)
Contract Type: Until August 2024, Term-time only
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 9 student with visual impairment. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in a young person's educational journey.
- Provide dedicated support to enable full access to the curriculum
- Assist with the adaptation of learning materials into appropriate formats
- Support the student's independence and social inclusion
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure lesson content is accessible
- Help maintain and organize specialist equipment
- Support the student's mobility around the school environment
- Experience working with young people with special educational needs
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Patient and understanding approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Commitment to promoting independent learning
- Previous experience supporting students with visual impairment
- Understanding of assistive technology
- Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
