The General Manager will be pivotal in the delivery of our strategic objectives. You’ll manage and deliver optimised operational excellence and drive improvements to our customer service capability and operational efficiencies, enabling the business to operate more collaboratively and efficiently. You’ll ensure that financial and operational performance is achieved and wherever possible exceeded. You’ll develop strong relationships with the Service Centre Managers and Sales Managers in your area of responsibility and engage with our people to support and motivate them to deliver and delight every time, for every customer. An exceptional leader, you will have strong people management skills and be able to demonstrate your ambition and track record in driving high performance standards and successfully managing operational activity, asset programming and service delivery in a fast-paced and complex environment. Your Key Accountabilities will include: Development and delivery of a business and people plan including targets, measures and objectives Leadership, people management and development Ensuring positive colleague engagement, collaboration and effective communication is a focal point for all team mates Development of commercial strategies to maximise revenue and profit Budget preparation and P&L control, financial and managerial reporting Ensuring that Sunbelt Rentals facilities function to the highest possible standard Working in conjunction with the Asset and Engineering teams, the optimisation of all aspects of the asset cycle to maximise utilisation, quality and availability to customers Ensuring full compliance with current health, safety and environmental legislation Working with the Operational leadership and wider team, take responsibility for the implementation of the Sunbelt Rentals strategy The design, implementation and delivery of continuous improvement strategies. What will you need to succeed in the General Manager role? A strong track record in managing operational activity, asset programming and service delivery in a complex environment where you have driven efficiencies and cultural change to achieve objectives and deliver year on year operational improvement. You’ll have a thorough understanding and experience in delivering within an operational excellence framework. Additionally you will bring: Exceptional leadership and people management skills – able to inspire and empower others. You’ll use your motivation and coaching skills to drive performance through your people and ensure that talent is recognised and developed Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, an effective negotiator with the ability to influence at all levels. You’ll have a highly collaborative approach, able to engage and motivate people to work together cross-functionally towards common aims and objectives A strong logistical background and asset control experience in a multi-product environment Experience of ERP systems and automatic replenishment programme improvements with strong data and analytical skills A customer-centric approach with experience of delivering an exceptional customer experience Commercial skills and business acumen - financial cost control, forecasting and budgeting management skills Sound problem solving, judgement and decision making abilities to diagnose and resolve complex business problems in a fast-paced environment You’ll be resilient, with drive and determination and able to adapt to rapidly changing priorities Excellent resource planning and organisational skills IOSH qualification Driving licence essential as there will be some travel involved both within and beyond the region.
