The Program on Reproductive Justice (BUPRJ) was established in January 2023 to address the challenges faced by women and people who can become pregnant following the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. BUPRJ is a groundbreaking, interdisciplinary program focused on advancing reproductive justice through scholarship, teaching, and policy formulation.
Boston University School of Law and BUPRJ are seeking an Executive Director and Lecturer to help build the program and train the next generation of reproductive justice advocates. The inaugural Executive Director will work with the BUPRJ faculty co-directors to execute the mission and goals of the program, including:
1. Planning BUPRJ-related events and symposia;
2. Advising and supporting students in the Reproductive Justice and Rights concentration;
3. Developing new curricular offerings;
4. Producing a newsletter and annual impact report;
5. Collaborating with BUPRJ affiliated faculty;
6. Identifying professional opportunities for students;
7. Facilitating collaborations with BU’s If / When / How student chapter;
8. Building a network among BUPRJ alumni;
9. Participating in selecting students for BUPRJ fellowships;
10. Working on fundraising efforts;
11. Expanding the programs reach through thought leadership and policymaking.
The Executive Director and Lecturer will receive a three-year contract, ideally beginning on July 1, 2025. This term-limited, 36-month, non-tenure track appointment may be renewed pending donor funding. Candidates must have a degree from an accredited law school or a Master’s in Public Health, excellent writing and analytical skills, and a passion for reproductive health and justice. Prior experience in legal practice, advocacy, or a clerkship is strongly preferred. Experienced practitioners looking to move into policymaking as well as those seeking to enter the professoriate are encouraged to apply.
