Working with a multi-disciplined Engineering team, you will be responsible for overseeing/undertaking appropriate governance related to the development and implementation of engineering delivery in accordance with processes and standards, defining engineering resource, delivery and governance of engineering programmes to meet the requirements for delivery of projects, on time, within specification and governance as follows:
What you’ll do:
* Lead the engineering team to effective delivery of project timelines within budget.
* Support and define common processes across multiple business sectors.
* Implementation and monitoring of agreed processes, governance to meet required delivery expectations.
* Ensure Telent gateway processes are followed for network and hardware designs.
* Ensure compliance with Department for Transport, Transport For London and customer requirements for delivery and approval procedures for products and solutions.
* Support conceptual solution development, ensuring designs consider technical delivery, cost effectiveness, environmental, sustainability and geotechnical requirements to meet the Customers obligations.
* Comply with internal and external Verification and Validation processes for system designs and implementation.
* Establish and control a robust change management procedure to ensure effective delivery of engineering and technical resources are available to delivery of project requirements to time and within budgets.
* Leading all engineering delivery and activities for a designated business/technology area.
* Engineering delivery being compliant with statutory legislation, along with Client and Telent specified procedures.
* Competence management of all engineering resource, including management and development of the team.
* Performance management of the Engineering team, to identify good performance and any improvements required.
* Assist with the Development the Engineering team to meet current and future demands of the business, through recruitment and staff training.
* Drive innovation, efficiency and cost reduction, through a culture of continuous improvement.
Who you are:
Key requirements:
* Degree or HNC / HND with appropriate experience in one or more designated Engineering disciplines.
* Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or demonstrable equivalent level of professional competence.
* A competent people manager of small to medium sized multi-disciplined teams.
* Significant experience of effective delivery of engineering and technical resources to deliver designated project requirements to time and within budgets.
* A sound knowledge of engineering principles, systems, processes and work methods associated with one or more designated engineering disciplines.
* A sound knowledge of health and safety legislation, for example: HASAW 1974, CDM regulations, ISO 45001 and company safety policies.
* Practiced in using designated business systems and processes for people, resourcing, bidding and financial management.
* Computer literate, competent with MS Office suite, Word, Excel, etc.
* Competent all-round verbal and written communication skills.
* Commercially aware.
* Ability to work collaboratively.
* Customer focused and able to deal with internal and external stakeholders.
* A passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions.
* Strong analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualise processes and outcomes.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or demonstrable equivalent level of professional competence.
* Extensive knowledge of designated section of the CDM legislation.
* Experience of and operating in the Principal Designer role.
* Working knowledge of the quality standards and processes and regulatory requirements applicable to the designated discipline/business area.
