Operations Manager - Outpatient Pharmacy
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a vacancy for a Pharmacy Operations Manager. This role requires providing strategic leadership to our fantastic team. Experience in an outpatient pharmacy setting is advantageous, but please do not be discouraged from applying if you lack this experience. You will need to be enthusiastic, motivated, and demonstrate a desire to develop our services.
Please note full-time hours are 37.5 hours per week worked over five days. While having a visible leadership presence is essential, there may be the opportunity to work from home one day a week, which can be discussed during the interview process.
Interviews for this post are expected to be held the week commencing the 9th of December.
Main Duties of the Job
* Providing managerial and strategic leadership for the pharmacy outpatient service.
* Ensuring that contractual KPIs are met.
* Ensuring compliance with GPhC Standards for Registered Pharmacies in conjunction with the Superintendent Pharmacist.
* Ensuring safe and effective working practices with SOPs that are in date and fit for purpose.
* Developing services to maximize company profitability; working closely with the Finance Manager.
Job Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and act as a role model for the staff of LHS Ltd.
* Manage stock appropriately and accurately.
* Ensure SOPs are in place to cover all activities.
* Implement robust recruitment processes including induction programmes and probationary reviews.
* Ensure training packages cover all core activities and are used to ensure all team members are trained to appropriate standards.
* Ensure pharmacy stock is handled safely and securely.
* Develop and operate the pharmacy as a profitable business, tailoring staffing and services as appropriate.
* Work closely with the Finance Manager to maintain full financial oversight.
* Manage pharmacy rosters in line with budgeted costs.
* Ensure effective leadership and management of the dispensary teams.
* Conduct regular team meetings with minutes circulated.
* Enact and follow all policies and procedures, ensuring standards are upheld.
* Communicate effectively with team members, including handling sensitive topics.
* Treat individuals equitably, fairly, and consistently.
* Ensure compliance with LTHTr mandatory training requirements.
* Conduct quarterly 121s and annual appraisals for all team members.
* Manage workload and resources effectively across all branches.
* Lead on service development or support team leaders.
* Ensure incidents are investigated and appropriate action plans are developed.
* Ensure all relevant risk assessments are in place and reviewed regularly.
* Maintain the LHS Single Improvement Plan and progress actions.
* Prepare corporate and annual business plans with the Finance Manager.
* Provide strategic advice and guidance to the board regarding industry developments.
* Establish and maintain links with LTHTr and other stakeholders.
* Coordinate the work and resources of the dispensary teams.
* Represent the company in negotiations with customers and suppliers.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Registration with GPhC and evidence of CPD.
* Post-graduate Leadership and Management Qualification.
* RPS/APTUK Membership.
Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of all areas of Pharmacy Services.
* Detailed knowledge of Pharmacy Dispensing Services.
* Experience in a management/leadership role.
* Specialist knowledge of Good Dispensing Practice.
* Knowledge of medicines regulation and clinical governance.
* Ability to develop and deliver training to others.
* Aware of changes within pharmacy practice.
* Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
* Knowledge of information security and confidentiality laws.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and Risk Management processes.
* EMIS Experience.
