This is an exciting time to join the Intensive Care Unit team at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BHNFT) as we continue to improve the service and experience for patients requiring Intensive care. We are seeking to appoint a Ward Clerk to join our team in this vital administrative role. You will act as a first point of contact to the family and friends of our service users and assist the clinical team in the administrative aspects of their daily duties.
You must be able to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative when required. You will be expected to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and IT skills as we move over to a fully digital system.
Main duties of the job
1. Welcome all visitors at the ICU reception desk and direct them to the appropriate area.
2. Answer the telephone, transfer calls to nursing/medical staff within the patient rooms, and take messages.
3. Obtain and record patient details on admission to the unit.
4. Check that all patients have been admitted onto the Central monitoring system.
5. Check that all patients have the correct colour printed wristbands and that they are legible.
6. Maintain contact with admissions/main reception regarding the transfer of patients.
7. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade after consultation with the postholder.
