Adept have been retained by a renowned engineering and steel group based in Sheffield who are seeking a Deputy Quality Manager to join their expanding team.
Due to recent growth and a broader customer portfolio, the company is enhancing its quality department to support an expanded range of prime and third-party quality approvals.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Quality Professional to join our head office in Sheffield. The role is full-time, office-based, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, with regular interaction across multiple local sites. The successful candidate will report directly to the Group Quality Manager, assisting with managing and coordinating quality efforts across the organization.
Key Responsibilities / Requirements:
1. Act as deputy to the Group Quality Manager.
2. Support the maintenance and expansion of Quality Management System (QMS) approvals.
3. Collaborate with Quality and Technical departments to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
4. Develop standard operating procedures and working instructions.
5. Conduct internal and external audits.
6. Proven experience in a Quality Professional/Engineer role, ideally in a steel or engineering environment.
7. In-depth knowledge of ISO9001:2015, BS EN/AS 9100/9120, and/or Nadcap standards.
8. Previous experience in conducting audits and applying problem-solving techniques (e.g., Ishikawa, 5 Whys, 8D).
Qualifications / Skills:
1. Certification or Diploma in Quality Management or a related field.
2. Auditing qualifications.
3. Educational background in English, Mathematics, and Science.
4. Membership in the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) is preferred but not required.
5. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
7. Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the business.
8. Adaptable with excellent multitasking abilities.
9. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
10. Capable of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
