Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care. In 2023, 67% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9-4 grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. Progress was also strong. At A level in 2023, 44% of grades were at A*-B. Similarly, high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.
Our flourishing Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses at A level, as well as vocational level 2 and 3 courses.
Our Governors wish to appoint an ambitious, talented, innovative Teacher of Design and Technology in our Expressive Arts Faculty, who is committed to raising achievement and who has the capacity to make a real contribution to the work of a supportive and continually improving school. Ambition for excellence, a passion for student achievement and the desire to develop professional skills within a supportive learning community will characterise applications for this post.
A Design and Technology Teacher with a specialism in product design / resistant materials. An ability to teach across all disciplines would be desirable at KS3, but not essential. Candidates must be able to teach across all age and ability ranges.
Our Technology Department currently offers the following courses with the view to expand Product Design through to KS5:
- KS3 Product Design, Textiles, Food (All on a carousel)
- KS4 GCSE Textiles
- KS4 Diploma in Food and cooking
- KS5 Level 3 Food Science
- KS5 A Level Textiles
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Check.
