About the role
The Resource Manager is crucial to our Regional Project Management Office (PMO). You will facilitate efficient allocation of employee capabilities to bids and projects in your region and support strategic capacity planning.
Responsibilities:
* Planning and Strategy Input:
o Analyse upcoming resource demands and create forecasts for Capability Managers.
o Identify patterns of resource usage and highlight opportunities for optimisation.
* Capability Management:
o Ensure employee capabilities are recorded and maintained for resource management decisions.
o Record employee development needs for the resource allocation process.
o Support Capability Managers in recruitment requirements by preparing skill supply and demand data.
o Coordinate the use of sub-contract resources.
* Future Business:
o Engage with Future Business throughout the Opportunity Lifecycle.
o Assist Capability Managers in identifying suitable resources for Capture and Bidding activities.
* Project Support:
o Identify suitable resources for PM and technical tasks.
o Ensure accurate recording of resource allocation decisions.
o Communicate resource allocation intents effectively.
o Collaborate with Project Managers to identify new demands and manage expected timescales for resource release.
o Access non-local capabilities for project delivery when needed.
o Support Project Managers in ongoing resource management efforts, including addressing workload and resource-related risks.
In terms of location, we have offices in Bath, Bristol, London, Southampton, Plymouth and Fareham and we are happy to explore flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Please note that travel to customer sites or to attend meetings will be required. This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.
This is a FTC for 12 months.
About you
We are looking for someone who understands the principles of resource management and best practices within a project management environment. You should have:
* An understanding of both strategic and tactical capacity planning
* A performance-focused attitude with a drive for achieving results
* Strong leadership skills to influence and manage stakeholders effectively
* Exceptional interpersonal skills for collaborating with various stakeholders, including Capability Managers and Project Managers
* Strong problem-solving skills and conflict resolution capabilities
* Proficiency in using resource and project management software/tools
* A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
Experience:
* Previous experience in a resource management role or similar within a project management or PMO environment.
* A proven track record of successful resource allocation and management in a complex, multi-project environment.
* Confidence in handling and analysing data to support resource management decisions.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing resource demands across different projects and regions.
