Finance Director (part-time)
Location: Milton Office / Home-Based
Reports to: Co-Managing Directors
Working hours: 24 hours per week (3 days a week, 8 hours per day)
Reference: FD-MI-Z
We are looking for an experienced Finance Director to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is a broad and strategic role, reporting to the Co-Managing Directors of Toad Hall Nursery Group. The Successful candidate will oversee various financial aspects of the business and drive the Company's financial strategy and acquisition portfolio, liaising with the board and wider Company.
You will play a critical role in the Company’s growth and development, acting as a finance business partner to the Co-Managing Directors to help drive profitability and future growth; liaising with the Head of Finance to ensure that the Co-Managing Directors and the board have robust information with which to make financial decisions.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Create and manage financial and valuation models to inform action for investments
2. Develop financial models for acquisition targets to inform valuation range and craft proposed deal terms (including the development of the term sheets/LOIs) in conjunction with our property consultant
3. Partner with the Co-Managing Directors to measure performance of acquired companies (e.g., actual results versus business case, pro-forma income stream, and other assumptions)
4. Lead the vision and strategy in growing and transforming our Company working alongside the Co-Managing Directors to understand the journey from acquisition to established nursery setting
5. Work closely with the Head of Finance to provide strategic leadership and management of the Company’s finances, advising the co-managing directors and board directors on all financial matters relating to the Company
6. Ensure the Company is best supported specifically in terms of reporting, KPI's, management information and data analytics
7. Manage capital for growth investment and ensure there is a business case conducted for any investment plans. Create clear, effective and accurate dashboards for reporting on new initiatives and developing new sites
8. Review the development and implementation of consistent and rigorous financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes, to ensure they are robust and aligned with the Company's goals
9. Oversee the annual external audit
10. Create, review and update robust financial policies
11. Research and review all Childcare funding models
What We’re Looking For:
1. Proven experience as a Finance Director or in a senior financial management role
2. Demonstrating skills in financial and accounting management including business planning and strategy, managing profitability, project management, formulating and monitoring budgets and financial reporting.
3. Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to influence and engage with all levels of the business.
4. A superb communicator with excellent presentation skills.
5. Ability to work productively and efficiently under pressure, meeting deadlines while demonstrating attention to detail and high-quality performance
6. Access to own transport to visit nursery settings
7. Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check
