Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a highly regarded team, working in collaboration with existing Consultants and within a wider multi-professional team.
As part of an enthusiastic and well-trained team, you will work alongside the Consultants, Specialist Registrars, Specialty doctors, and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The post holder will rotate between RSUH and County Hospital.
You will be expected to share duties and responsibilities with other middle-grade doctors. Additionally, you will be required to participate in audit, teaching, training, and research in this field. A job plan will be discussed and reviewed with the successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will be a member of a team of 13 WTE Consultant Oncologists, 2 WTE Consultant Medical Oncologists, and 11 WTE Consultant Haematologists delivering a comprehensive Oncology and Haematology service to the population of North and South Staffordshire and South Cheshire.
There will be service commitments in the Cancer Centre at both Royal Stoke University Hospital and the County Hospital site. The Oncology Department has some commitment to Undergraduate teaching, and you will be expected to participate in this, as well as Postgraduate teaching and training.

UHNM Cancer Centre at Royal Stoke Hospital provides world-class, patient-centered, specialized cancer services to the population of Staffordshire, South Cheshire, and part of Shropshire.
All inpatient, day case, the majority of outpatient clinics, and Radiotherapy are delivered within a purpose-built centre which opened in July 2009. We see approximately 2000 new patients per year with a geographical catchment area of approximately 800,000 population.
The post is based at the University Hospital of North Midlands Cancer Centre. Clinical duties will be across both the Royal Stoke Hospital site and at County Hospital site.

Clinical Experience & Training:
* Experience of conducting clinical audit.
* Ability to use the evidence base and clinical audit to support decision-making.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration.
* Possession of MRCP or equivalent qualification in medical oncology.
* Eligibility to be on the specialist register within 6 months of interview date.
* MD or PhD.
Academic Achievements, Research, Publications
* Evidence of training in research methodology.
* Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems.
* An awareness of current specialty-specific developments, initiatives, and issues.
* Publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals in the last five years.
* Evidence of having undertaken original research.
