Consultant Anaesthetist with Interest in Neuroanaesthesia

You are warmly invited to apply for the post of consultant anaesthetist with an interest in Neuroanaesthesia. The successful candidates will have a broad-based training in anaesthesia and will have the ability to care for complex patients having major surgeries. The role involves a commitment to supporting the out of hours emergency anaesthesia services at University Hospital.
University Hospital is a large teaching hospital and is the Major Trauma centre for the Central England Trauma Network. We have a large Department of Anaesthesia which delivers perioperative care to around 44,000 elective and emergency patients. We provide anaesthesia and perioperative care for all major sub-specialties including cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery and renal transplant services.
Main duties of the job
You will:
* Provide and further develop anaesthesia, pain and critical care services for the Trust in collaboration with colleagues in all disciplines including primary and tertiary care to provide an integrated and high quality service for patients. This will include ensuring that all services are provided in an effective and efficient manner and that the principles of risk management and clinical governance are maintained at all times.
* Actively participate in the teaching and training of junior doctors and allied healthcare professionals in anaesthesia and critical care.
* Take part in the general activities of consultants at the Trust - teaching, clinical governance, administration, management etc. This will be done by personal development into appropriate roles depending on the consultants' particular interests and aptitudes.
* Support and develop innovative improvements within the department and the Trust in order to maintain and improve the quality of patient care.
