THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE
The Satellite Welshpool Renal Unit is a diverse department, caring for patients with Renal Failure from pre-dialysis to maintenance dialysis, conservative management, end of life care, and supporting patients through transplantation. The department also provides support to patients who develop acute renal failure. The role of the staff nurse within the department is diverse, and you will be afforded the opportunity to care for patients undergoing dialysis in 3 main locations: on the dialysis unit, on our renal ward, and within the critical care setting.
The approach for caring for patients undergoing dialysis is truly multidisciplinary; you will be working closely with doctors, specialist nurses, dieticians, social workers, psychologists, and the pharmacy department to deliver high-quality continuous care to the patients within the department.
We are currently providing dialysis to 24 haemodialysis patients. The department will be moving to a 6-day service to accommodate capacity, open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 06:30 to 18:30 and Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday morning. You will be required to support the service during this period. You will be expected to care for the patients whilst undergoing haemodialysis and support the holistic care of the patients. You will also support the multidisciplinary team meetings and be responsible for the long-term care of a named group of patients.
