Specsavers in Weymouth are looking for an ambitious and talented Optometrist to join their diverse team. The focus at this store, is about pulling together and working as a team to ensure that their valued patients have an excellent experience. Mark the Director is very professional, supportive, and friendly. He has been the Director for 10 years and has an established team of 30, with some staff having 24 years of service at Weymouth Specsavers. They are a sociable team and often enjoy nights out celebrating the team’s success. Mark strongly believes in investing in training and developing his staff, with staff members constantly growing and developing their skills and roles within the store, from Apprentice to Assistant Manager and his Saturday support, now training to be Dispensing Optician. With a refit planned for June 2024, this is a great place to work.

Weymouth is in the heart of the Jurassic Coast; the Isle of Portland, is connected to Weymouth by the stunning Chesil Beach.
The beach is a curving arc of golden sand adjacent to the town centre, with Weymouth pier at the southern end. Weymouth holds Blue Flag and Seaside Awards and is recommended by the Marine Conservation Society.
Approximately 12 miles south of Dorchester and the A35, with excellent bus and train services throughout the Dorset region, Weymouth is a fantastic town in which to live and work.

Our store has 5 test rooms, all fully equipped with the latest clinical technology (including OCT). We offer enhanced clinical services including post cataract assessments and glaucoma shared care, as well as a local MEC’s scheme. We always aim to be the very best we can be – both clinically and in terms of customer service. Our experienced, diverse, and friendly team are always on hand to offer support and take care of patient’s needs, meaning that as our new Optometrist, you can focus on offering a first-class sight test to our loyal customers.
What we’re looking for
Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, the right person for this position will be confident, possess a strong work ethic and a willingness to succeed. You’ll be passionate about your job and enjoy a fast-paced environment.
We are looking for an Optometrist who will go the extra mile for our customers and someone who encourages their colleagues to do the same. You’ll be confident testing at 20 minutes; meeting and exceeding all personal and team goals without compromising the high standards of clinical care we are proud of and be an ambassador for the Specsavers brand at all times.
You will assist the directors with the supervision of professional and support staff as required; holding a Pre-Reg supervision qualification would be a distinct advantage, however, we are happy to support your learning and development in this area and pay for the appropriate courses.
In summary, we’re looking for a high calibre resident Optometrist to join us and assist in driving this excellent practice forward.
