Role Description
As a Principal Electrical Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping the development and integration of requirements for our electrical systems, collaborating closely with other engineers to ensure alignment with project specifications and strategic objectives such as adopting MBSE (model-based systems engineering) for functional and interface modelling. You'll provide essential support across the team by refining requirements, ensuring document alignment, and contributing to verification and validation processes. Your leadership and technical expertise will help drive the success of our electrical power systems through rigorous planning, scenario development, and adherence to engineering management standards.
Core Duties
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
• Collaborating with engineers across the electrical team to define, document, and refine system requirements.
• Inputting and maintaining requirements within DOORS as the master, ensuring traceability and consistency.
• Contributing to and supporting Enterprise Architect (EA) modelling and ensuring the structured representation of system requirements.
• Developing and maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to ensure clear and consistent communication of system interfaces.
• Overseeing V&V activities to ensure alignment with the technical requirements, supporting the integration and testing phases as needed - identifying opportunities for risk mitigation and capturing evidence that requirements have been fulfilled.
• Assisting in the development of operational scenarios and capturing these within the requirements set to ensure that all functional and operational needs are met.
• Ensuring that all requirements and engineering activities comply with engineering management plans and industry best practices.
Key Skillset
• Extensive background in electrical systems engineering, with a focus on requirements development, systems integration, and technical leadership.
• Knowledge of requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS) and EA modelling for structured representation of system elements.
• Proficiency in systems engineering methodologies, particularly in requirements development, V&V planning, and interface control.
• Strong background in electrical power systems design, operational scenario development, and standards compliance.
