Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships.
While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.
Reporting to the Senior Group Commercial Manager, you will drive cost saving initiatives within the Divisional offices; completion of cost data analysis for reporting to the business; provide systems training and support to Divisional offices; ensure Divisional office compliance with the Group systems, policies, processes and procedures.
You will be expected to:
* Attend Divisional Valuation Meetings periodically to review budgets, procedures, in order to drive cost saving initiatives and report these monthly to the Senior Group Commercial Manager.
* Provide expert knowledge to support the Divisional Commercial teams in providing technical assistance and training to new and existing staff members on the proficient use of the Company’s Commercial systems.
* Complete robust testing of new IT software to ensure the stability of the Company’s Commercial and Financial systems.
* Collect ad-hoc and periodical cost information, carrying out cross-divisional cost analyses and reporting to the Executive board, Group Commercial Operations Director and Senior Group Commercial Manager.
* Regularly review and update Sub-Contractor Trade Specifications to ensure the construction of our houses meets industry Safety, Health, Environmental, Construction and Technical standards.
* Ensure Divisional office compliance with the Group IT systems.
* Promote and act in accordance with the Group values, policies, processes and procedures.
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
* A proven track record in the proficient use of the IT systems of Barratt Development Plc.
* Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail, able to gather, interpret and present cost data analyses and reports to senior management.
* Articulate, clear and credible, and able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Methodical, conscientious and organised, works to deliver high standards.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally.
* Confidence in presenting information.
* Able to manage and prioritise workload and time with minimal direction within the team environment.
* Good knowledge and user ability of Microsoft Office packages such as Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
* An in-date Construction Skills Certification Scheme card.
* A full, clean Driver’s License is essential for this role as regular visits to divisional offices and construction housing sites across the country will be required.
