A secondary school in Glossop is looking for a Teaching Assistant with a focus on literacy support. This role involves working directly with students who need help in reading, writing, and comprehension skills, aiming to enhance their literacy abilities and overall academic confidence. Responsibilities:
* Targeted Literacy Support: Provide one-on-one and small group sessions focusing on reading, comprehension, and writing skills, adapting materials to meet students’ needs.
* Collaborate with English Department: Work closely with English teachers to identify students in need of additional literacy support and coordinate tailored learning plans.
* Progress Monitoring: Track and report on students’ progress, adjusting support strategies as needed and celebrating achievements with students.
* Encourage Reading and Writing: Promote a love for reading and creative writing through interactive activities, fostering an enthusiasm for literacy that extends beyond the classroom.
* Parent and Guardian Engagement: Communicate with parents to update them on their child’s progress, offering guidance on how they can support literacy at home.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience in literacy tutoring or education, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for supporting student development. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
