Role Overview
As the Head of Energy Managing Partner, you will lead our global Energy practice, with a specific focus on the Oil & Gas Upstream sector. You will drive strategic growth, oversee high-impact client engagements, and shape the firm's thought leadership in the energy industry. This role demands deep expertise in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and business transformation, coupled with a proven ability to build trusted relationships with C-suite executives and deliver measurable results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the global strategy for the Energy practice, aligning with the firm’s broader objectives. Identify emerging trends and opportunities in the Oil & Gas Upstream sector to position the firm as a market leader.
* Client Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, delivering tailored solutions in M&A, operational transformation, and strategic growth initiatives. Lead complex, high-value engagements to drive client success.
* M&A Expertise: Oversee and advise on upstream M&A transactions, including deal structuring, due diligence, valuation, and post-merger integration. Leverage your network to originate new opportunities and expand the firm’s deal pipeline.
* Transformation Leadership: Drive large-scale transformation programs for upstream clients, focusing on operational efficiency, digitalization, cost optimization, and sustainability. Ensure measurable outcomes and long-term value creation.
* Business Development: Grow the Energy practice by cultivating new client relationships and expanding existing accounts. Collaborate with global teams to cross-sell services and enhance the firm’s market presence.
* Thought Leadership: Represent the firm as a leading voice in the energy sector through publications, speaking engagements, and industry forums. Contribute to the development of innovative frameworks and methodologies.
* Team Leadership: Mentor and develop a high-performing team of consultants, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and innovation. Attract and retain top talent to strengthen the practice.
* Financial Performance: Take accountability for the practice’s financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, and utilization targets.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience: Minimum of 15+ years of professional experience in the Oil & Gas Upstream sector, with at least 10 years in a leadership role within a top-tier consulting firm, investment bank, or energy company.
* M&A Expertise: Demonstrated track record of leading and executing complex M&A transactions in the upstream space, with deep knowledge of deal dynamics, valuation, and integration.
* Transformation Leadership: Proven success in driving large-scale transformation programs, including operational restructuring, digital transformation, and decarbonization initiatives.
* Industry Knowledge: Extensive understanding of the global Oil & Gas Upstream market, including regulatory frameworks, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies.
* Network: Established relationships with senior executives in the energy sector, particularly in upstream operations, and a strong ability to leverage these connections for business development.
* Leadership: Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing diverse, global teams and driving a high-performance culture.
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Economics, Business, or Finance); an MBA or advanced degree is highly desirable.
* Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to London. Ability to travel globally as required.
