The Respiratory/ Thoracic nurse service at Bolton NHS FT currently have a vacancy for a Specialist Respiratory Manager Nurse.
As the Specialist Respiratory Manager, you will be providing overall management and leadership to a team of specialist respiratory nurses and health care assistants. The team includes nurses for COPD, TB, Lung cancer, ILD, Oxygen, and pulmonary rehabilitation. The successful candidate will be managing the rota to provide care over seven days through clinics, home visits, and inpatient referrals.
You will work as a Specialist Respiratory Manager supporting the delivery of an expert service within the specialist area both from an inpatient and outpatient base. The post holder will support community patients from Bolton One as well as within the acute setting providing direct care to inpatients on the respiratory wards as well as inpatient referrals. The post does involve working within a multidisciplinary team with acute and community colleagues.
You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can demonstrate good leadership qualities to ensure our patients receive care that is safe, responsive, effective, caring, and well led. This role requires the individual to be innovative and enthusiastic in their approach to management and improving care/outcomes for respiratory patients.
Main duties of the job
The role requires the individual to work as a Specialist Respiratory Manager, providing management and leadership to the specialist respiratory nurse team who cover care within the acute hospital setting, community – providing home visits and also through clinics at Bolton One.
The successful candidate will also need excellent respiratory knowledge to support the nursing team with the delivery of an expert service within the specialist area both from an inpatient and outpatient base. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, a team player who is forward-thinking and enthusiastic about the nursing profession. The successful candidate will support community patients from Bolton One as well as within the acute setting providing direct care to inpatients and working as part of the wider MDT to reduce a patient’s length of stay and to support a safe discharge. The post does involve working within a multidisciplinary team with acute and community colleagues. The successful candidate must have a good working knowledge of both local and national respiratory policy.
The position is for 37.5 hours per week (over a 7-day week) although management time will be allocated during the working week. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and who can demonstrate good leadership qualities to ensure our patients receive care that is safe, responsive, effective, caring, and well led.

The Acute Adult Care Division is one of five Clinical Divisions in the Trust that includes Emergency Care, Complex Care, and Specialist Medicine. The Division contains the busiest single site Emergency Department in Greater Manchester and has inpatient wards providing acute medicine, rehabilitation, and specialist medicine services.
