Job Description
1. Offer companionship and conversation
2. Monitor diet and eating
3. Stimulate and encourage through a variety of activities (for example clothing selection, hobbies and crafts)
4. Arrange and provide reminders for appointments, activities and outings
5. Help with travel arrangements
6. Organise mail and write letters
7. Assist with walking (lending an arm to steady)
8. Accompany to appointments and social events (for example visiting friends or family, lunch, club meetings)
9. Provide medication reminders
10. Help with bathing, dressing and grooming
11. Help with continence care
12. Assist to eat and drink
13. Provide Dementia / Alzheimer care
14. Provide respite / convalescence care
15. Assist with morning/wake up and or evening/tuck in
16. Run errands / collect prescriptions etc
17. Performing light housekeeping tasks (dusting, vacuuming, making beds, changing linens, cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, washing and ironing, taking out rubbish, caring for houseplants etc.)
18. Organise and tidy cupboards and check food expiry dates
19. Plan prepare and tidy away meals
20. Answer the door
21. Assist with pet care
22. Supervise home maintenance
23. Help with shopping and oversee home deliveries
Qualifications
24. Ability to treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respect
25. Ability to adapt to various living environments and locations
26. Ability to listen, communicate clearly and build relationships with clients and their families in a friendly and pleasant manner
27. Willingness to work and communicate professionally with Home Instead office teams and other social and health care professionals
28. Respect for people with different backgrounds and beliefs to your own and who may have a range of medical conditions. Commitment to non-discriminatory care practice
29. Willing to seek guidance when needed and follow instructions
30. Excellent timekeeper who is organised and reliable
31. Ability to adapt to change quickly and make common sense decisions at short notice
32. Good hygiene practice, including personal hygiene and a smart appearance
33. Good level of stamina and fitness to meet the physical demands of the job
34. This role will require you to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure from the relevant body
35. Class 1 business insurance (if using own car for business purposes)
