JOB PURPOSE To manage your own time and activities whilst managing the running of the workshop to ensure the production teams are working efficiently and effectively the timescales allowed for each project and to achieve exemplary quality standards in all aspects of workshop activity. Control the performance of the workshop using effective managerial skills combined with existing systems and process and be proactive and integral to the development of the teams and implementation of new ideas, system, and processes. You will be required to work collaboratively with the General Manager and Operations Manager in growing and developing the Joinery Division into an efficient turnkey service. PRODUCTION To manage workload for Bench Joinery and Machinist teams, ensuring they are fully always deployed and working efficiently, Manage the Machining team to ensure machining meet agreed quality standards, in time to meet assembly programmes and to minimise machining activities being undertaken by bench Joiners, Work collaboratively with the Finishing Manager to ensure a smooth and efficient transition from assembly to Finishing team to meet the production programme, Manage you own time efficiently so that you can still undertake manufacturing tasks. Setting up joinery projects, including preparing full size rod drawings for the production team. Travel to sites as required to take accurate site sizes considering site tolerances and conditions before producing final working dimensions for manufacture and installation. Track and cross check that the drawings are current and up to date before manufacture commences. WORKSHOP MANAGEMENT Ensure the workshop and associated facilities are maintained and operated to the highest possible standards of cleanliness, efficiency, safety, health, and environmental standards. Be the first point of contact for visitors or staff entering the workshop. PEOPLE Liaise with site teams on current and future works streams ensuring that RWA joinery is the preferred choice. Provide effective management of and leadership to the wider operational team, ensuring clear, consistent, and accurate communication to individuals and teams, Support, manage and develop your team with the aim of retaining them and to ensure they attain the highest levels of skill and capability. Carry out appraisals, probations, set objectives and provide mentoring or coaching. Lead the process of recruitment when required, PROGRAMMING Prepare task allocation programmes, allocate jobs, and manage the workload of your team to maximise the efficiency of workshop output. SAFETY, HEALTH, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL (SHE) Promote a culture and personally demonstrate the highest levels of SHE controls. Assist in making sure the workshop and yard operations are efficient and compliant with both SHE legislation, ACOP and good practise and is a safe environment for all staff and visitors. Undertake frequent SHE inspections and audit for the workshop and yard and action requirements accordingly. Complete and submit Accident, RIDDOR and near miss reporting. TRANSPORTATION Liaise with Site Managers on best dates for delivery. Make sure that working drawings are issued to the correct person in readiness for the site install. Organise transportation. QUALITY CONTROL Set and maintain a culture of quality and develop systems and process to improve quality to the highest standards throughout all aspects of the workshop.
