We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician at HMP Winchester to join our team. HMP Winchester is a Category B Local remand prison located in Central Winchester accommodating approximately 670 male prisoners.
Although the site is close to Winchester city centre, there is onsite (free!) parking for all staff and it is a short walk from Winchester train station. Due to HMP Winchester holding remand prisoners and to support the daily regime, we do require staff to work on a rota basis and you can be asked to work nights, bank holidays, and weekends although if you're looking for flexibility we can discuss this at interview.
This position is full time 37.5 hours a week and you'll receive an annual salary up to £41,265 per annum FTE - depending on experience.
Golden Hello - £3,000 (£1,000 in 6 months of service, £1,000 after 12 months and £1,000 after 24 months of service - conditions apply).

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to support the delivery of Pharmacy Services which will be part of a comprehensive healthcare package, based on the prison services needs. Working on the prison wings, you can expect to be involved in everything from medicine management, administering medications, patient counselling, medicines reconciliation etc. You may be required to participate in certain activities concerning the day-to-day operational management of the unit and as such must ensure that you are trained and competent to take on these additional responsibilities. You'll be able to demonstrate assessment skills, including the undertaking of risk assessments and have sound patient counselling skills, treating patients with respect and dignity at all times. If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!

You will hold ACT qualification and have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) to be considered for this role. You will also have relevant post-qualification experience working within a pharmacy environment and multi-disciplinary team. Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
