We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in London to assist with the appointment of a Environmental Health Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £26.14 - £33.54 per hour PAYE
Summary:
Manage and organise effective provision of specialist environmental health technical skills and knowledge to maintain and safeguard standards relating to people's health and well-being and to contribute to delivery of the councils objectives and priorities.
Understand and demonstrate the councils values and behaviours, working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders to help build a sustainable highly effective organisation and develop our reputation as a successful council delivering great value for its residents.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement and enforce environmental health policies, using specialist technical skills and knowledge to maintain and safeguard standards relating to people's health and well-being.
2. Carry out routine or unplanned visits and inspections to ensure compliance with legislation and take action to improve conditions, including taking photos, producing drawings, removing samples, and conducting interviews as part of the inspection process.
3. Investigate complaints from the general public and provide advice and assistance to householders and businesses.
4. Give talks at public enquiries, meetings, and exhibitions, as well as ensuring compliance through education, advice, and enforcement.
5. Take enforcement action, initiate legal proceedings, and prepare and give evidence in court.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Further qualification in environmental health disciplines.
2. 2 A levels and 5 GCSE (including Maths and English).
3. Completion of practical training.
4. Work experience in environmental health or related field of work.
