Inclusive Leadership, Professional Standards, and Accountability Provide visible, inclusive, and compassionate leadership, supporting nursing and allied health professionals to deliver high-quality patient care. In particular working to develop and support direct reports (Site Seniors) and their associated teams. Role model professional standards, ensuring adherence to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code / Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Code of Practice and other regulatory guidelines. Foster a culture of learning, respect, and shared governance, engaging frontline teams in decision-making and service improvements. Support the implementation of Nursing & AHP Excellence principles to enhance professional development, autonomy, and shared decision-making. Act as the senior point of accountability for clinical services, ensuring all care aligns with organisational policies and national standards. Engage with patients and their families to address concerns proactively, ensuring a positive experience and a respectful approach to care. 2. Governance, Patient Safety, and Quality Provide clinical governance leadership, working in collaboration with the Corporate Quality & Governance Team to ensure robust oversight of patient safety, incident management, and real-time learning from complaints, concerns, and feedback. Champion a culture of patient safety, ensuring adherence to established safety protocols and embedding PSIRF (Patient Safety Incident Response Framework) principles into daily practice. Lead on incident reporting, investigations, and learning reviews using SEIPS (Systems Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety) methodology. Conduct thematic reviews to identify underlying factors contributing to incidents, ensuring that learning outcomes are embedded into policy, training, and operational processes to drive continuous improvement. Oversee and conduct clinical audits in infection prevention, clinical effectiveness, and environmental cleanliness, ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and best practices. Promote a patient-centred approach, ensuring service users are actively involved in service planning, quality improvement initiatives, and innovation efforts. Drive continuous quality improvement by empowering teams to identify and implement enhancements in care delivery, operational efficiency, and patient experience. Ensure Health & Safety policies are regularly reviewed and updated in line with national regulations and best practices, embedding a proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement. 3. Workforce Planning and Resource Management Support workforce planning and skill mix reviews to ensure safe staffing levels across services. Lead on retention strategies, ensuring staff feel valued and have clear career development pathways. Address workforce planning needs, ensuring adequate staffing levels and skill mix to meet service demands. Manage resources effectively, including equipment, consumables, and staffing, to optimise clinical and operational efficiency. Conduct site-wide Health & Safety drills, including fire evacuations and major incident simulations, to assess response effectiveness, identify gaps, and enhance overall emergency preparedness 4. Patient Experience and Reducing Health Inequalities Foster a patient-centred approach ensuring patients preferences and needs are at the core of care delivery. Engage with patients and families to solicit feedback, using insights to continuously improve the patient experience. Promote inclusivity and equitable access to high-quality healthcare for all patient groups. Ability to demonstrate responsiveness to patient and staff feedback, providing resolution whilst strengthening relationships and enhancing satisfaction and experience. 5. Performance and Operational Oversight Ensure operational performance aligns with key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient safety, clinical outcomes, and patient experience. Oversee daily theatre operations, ensuring efficient list management, resource allocation, and minimal delays or cancellations. Robust rostering oversight and review of additional / unused hours and overall rostering KPI management. Maintain oversight of the sites risk register, ensuring risks are identified, escalated, mitigated effectively and that the direct care team understand them and actions being taken. Monitor site budgets and work with finance teams to ensure financial performance aligns with organisational expectations and goals. Support the co-ordination of site-wide Health & Safety drills, including fire evacuations and major incident simulations, to assess response effectiveness, identify gaps, and enhance overall emergency preparedness. 6. Digital and Information Technology Support digital transformation initiatives and the implementation of technology in patient care. This includes championing and leading any change initiatives. Ensure the team is proficient in digital tools used in patient safety and clinical governance. Promote efficient use of technology to streamline workflows and enhance data-driven decision-making through the use of systems such as Power BI & Excell reporting. 7. Education, Training, and Development Facilitate education, training, and mentoring programmes aligned with best practice. Provide ongoing professional development opportunities and training for staff. Work collaboratively with higher education institutions to support continued professional development. 8. Research and Development Ensure up to date awareness of national best practice. Support the implementation of findings from national and local healthcare research and bringing into the organisation. Encourage a culture of evidence-based practice and clinical research within the team. 9. Collaborative Working and Clinical Effectiveness Foster multidisciplinary collaboration, ensuring effective communication between clinical teams. This includes advocacy but also check challenge and support. Actively engage team members in policy development and service improvement initiatives. Promote interprofessional collaboration to drive best practices and improved patient outcomes. Documenting our systems and processes to allow shared understanding. 10. Service Improvement and Transformation Drive service improvement initiatives, embedding quality improvement (QI) methodologies into practice, ensure LEAN methodologies and overall prevention and productivity. Develop strategies to reduce health inequalities and ensure equitable access to care services in a way that supports not only our patients but also our workforce. Encourage innovation in care delivery and operational processes.
