About David:
David is a caring man born in 1989 who has a brain injury which has affected his eyesight. He has no vision in his right eye and only limited tunnel vision in his left eye and is registered blind. He is aware that he can suffer from mood swings, but when he realizes he is wrong, he soon apologizes.
David loves football and is a season ticket holder at Portsmouth, where he likes to go often. He really enjoys dog walking, fishing, going to museums and long car drives to visit various places. He works as a volunteer at Headway in Portsmouth and has a part-time job as a cleaner. David likes takeaway foods, especially Nando's! He doesn’t always eat well, although he knows he needs to be careful as he is diabetic.
David is proudly independent and lives on his own, however, he enjoys the company of others and spending time with his Mum, Nan, and more recently his Dad. He is very proud of his pet dog, who means the world to him, and he enjoys taking her out for walks for which he requires support. He enjoys the company of his Buddy/Support Worker/s to help him get out and about and enjoy the activities he loves to do and to help him with some difficulty with his memory and organizational skills that require support. The role will also involve supporting David to maximize his independence in all activities of daily living.
This is a wonderful opportunity to join a supportive family and care team where you can make a real difference to David’s life by maximizing his opportunities and promoting his independence wherever possible, a truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and has the ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.
