Job Title: Associate Development Editor - Online Resources
Salary: £27,900 - £32,000 per annum
Location: Cambridge, UK/Hybrid
Contract: Permanent / Full time (35 hours per week)
Cambridge University Press & Assessment is currently recruiting to fill an Associate Development Editor - Online Resources (OR) position with the Higher Education team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wishes to further their publishing career and knowledge. Working with a team of friendly and collaborative Development Editors in Cambridge and New York, this position will provide a strong grounding in the principles of textbook development and digital learning solutions.
About the role
As an Associate Development Editor - OR, you will be:
* Working on a wide range of learning solutions, both print and digital, across disciplines from science, technology and maths (STM) to humanities and social sciences (HSS).
* Responsible for maintaining the online resource development processes and providing support to Editorial colleagues as needed.
* Assigned projects on a 75%/25% split between print titles and project managing AAA online resource suites for DE-managed books.
* Constructing development plans for each assigned project, working in conjunction with the line manager and the commissioning editor.
* Developing the assigned projects to ensure they are published on time, within budget, and with suitable online resources for both instructors and students.
* Reading content and providing detailed manuscript feedback to authors.
* Conducting peer review and market research.
* Developing a good understanding of the technical and content requirements for each assigned project.
* Participating and/or leading author meetings with confidence and professionalism.
* Establishing good relationships within the wider HE team: Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Content Management, Digital.
About you
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with a demonstrable passion for Higher Education textbook publishing and knowledge of online learning resources and their production. You will have excellent line editing skills, familiarity with structural editing, and the ability to look at a manuscript creatively and critically. Strong project management experience, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks for various projects at different stages, is essential.
You will be an excellent communicator, both in speaking and writing. Good IT skills, especially proficiency in Microsoft apps and Adobe Pro, along with strong written and verbal communication skills, are also essential. Previous office experience would be an advantage.
