Environmental Health Officer (Temporary)
Hourly Rate: £55 (Umbrella)
Location: Reading, with flexibility for remote work
Job Type: Temporary (until end of February)We are currently seeking a qualified Environmental Health Officer to join a Private Sector Housing Team at an exciting time. With the recent completion of a consultation aimed at introducing additional and selective licensing schemes, this role is pivotal in enhancing the living standards and building thriving communities through effective regulation of private sector landlords.
About the Role
As an Environmental Health Officer, you will spend a significant amount of time conducting inspections in various locations across Berkshire. This role offers the flexibility to work from home, depending on the service requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough inspections and investigations across the borough, focusing on housing conditions and compliance with the HMO mandatory licence scheme.
Handle housing complaints and provide essential assistance and advice to tenants and landlords.
Participate in the licensing consultation process and contribute to discussions on tall building fire safety and innovative service delivery in the private rented sector.
Process HMO licence applications and collaborate with internal and external partners to administer the scheme and enhance property conditions.
Participate in an out-of-hours noise rota, if required.About You
Qualifications: Must be registered on the EHRB or the Register of Environmental Health Practitioners.
Skills: Excellent communication abilities, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, public members, and other agencies.
Experience: Knowledge of the Private Rented Sector and/or a regulatory environment is essential.
Other Requirements: Must possess a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.Additional Information
This role requires spending around 60% of the time on inspections, with a variable weekly schedule based on site issues.
Some work outside of normal office hours may be required, which will always be arranged in advance.How to Apply
